How can I see my account balance update from my transactions (ledger view)?

Modified on Wed, 10 Jul at 1:55 PM

In TimelyBills, one can monitor updates to your account balance through the ledger view, which provides a detailed insight of all activities done on the account, in a chronological order. Here’s how you can view your account activity logs through the ledger view:

  • Go to the Dashboard and click on "Accounts".

  • Choose the specific account for which you want to view the ledger.

  • Navigate to Ledger View: Within the account details, locate the option to view transactions and click on "Ledger View."

  • Ledger view displays transactions (income, expense, or transfer) in descending chronological order, showing how they have affected the account balance.

  • Once the account is set up with its current balance and you can see how adding, editing, or deleting transactions impacts the account balance.

  • Each transaction cell shows the transaction amount, and just below, it will show the account balance outcome due to this transaction action.

The important points to note here are:

A transaction may be seen as duplicate if it is edited. Because when it was created, it might have impacted the account balance, and now when it is being edited, the old transaction amount will be deleted, and a new transaction with the edited amount will be created as a new transaction. So, it is kept similar to the ledger we have in a real bank account, where once a transaction is done, it cannot be rolled back; only a new transaction is created to rectify any mistakes. This approach provides a complete detail of all actions that have impacted the account balance.
